The University of Namibia (Unam) on Tuesday announced a possible delay in staff salary payments for May.
Unam spokesperson Simon Namesho said this was done as a precautionary measure.
Unam staff members are normally paid on the 15th of each month.
The university’s pro-vice chancellor of administration and finance, Ellen Namhila, on Tuesday announced the delay in staff members’ salary disbursement in an internal notice.
“I regret to inform you that there will be a delay in the disbursement of salaries for May. We will keep you updated without delay as soon as we have a resolution,” she said.
“We recognise the importance of timely salary payments and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Namesho on Tuesday said: “It was just a precautionary notice, but staff members will be paid tomorrow [Wednesday].”
