Soldier takes own life at Rundu hospital

A Namibian Defence Force member stationed at Rundu Military Base was found dead in a hospital toilet yesterday morning, Kavango East acting regional commander deputy commissioner Eino Nambahu says.
The deceased has been identified as Isai Kanhuku (33). Nambahu says Kankuhu had been admitted to the hospital on Saturday. According to Nambahu, nurses at the hospital reported that Kanhuku informed them he was using the toilet, and they observed nothing unusual upon his leaving for the toilet.
Kanhuku’s family has been informed of his death, Nambahu said.
Meanwhile, Omusati police regional commander Ismael Basson says a 17-year-old girl with an intellectual disability was raped on Friday.
The incident took place in the night after the suspect went into a room with the victim at Ruacana constituency in the Omusati region.
“He had sexual intercourse with a victim who can’t give consent,” Basson says.
The suspect is known, and the arrest is to be made as police investigations continue.
