PDK band member Patrick Mwashindange, who has been spanning his solo musical career for the past four years as ‘Patrick Sikiliza’, tied the knot with longtime partner Simaneka Amos last weekend.
Sikiliza told The Namibian he is confident that marriage will not get in the way of his creative endeavours.
He says he and his wife have been together for four years, and they understand each other and get along very well.
“I will continue to be an artist and will be an artist forever. She found me as an artist, loves me as an artist and we are going to live with that. I will never stop being who I am because of marriage,” says Sikiliza.
Describing the mother of his three daughters, now also his wife, Sikiliza says she is patient, caring, beautiful, respectful and God-fearing.
The wedding took place on 28 June, at Uukwiyu Uushona village in the Oshana region.
“For an artist to get married, it is a wonderful feeling, especially to have someone who has been there for you through thick and thin,” Sikiliza says.
“She pushes me, builds with me and moves with me, and there is no amount of excitement that can explain this feeling; it’s unconditional in all aspects,” he says.
He adds that they reached a point where they decided to have an event to bring their family and friends together to witness what they have built together.
Commenting on his music career, Sikiliza says he is busy working on a project — a second solo album set for release towards the end of this year.
Sikiliza has been with the band PDK for more than 18 years as a lead singer, making music that focuses on different aspects of life and releasing more than 10 albums.
In 2022, the singer embarked on a solo journey and released his debut album, titled ‘Sikiliza’, in Swahili, which means ‘listen’.
The 18-track album contained various hits, including ‘Make a Choice’, ‘Ila’ and ‘Darling’, to mention a few.
Ever since, Sikiliza has not shown any sign of stopping, having performed at various events countrywide.
This time around, the singer says he will come up with a project that is going to be loved by many, which will include new tunes with a different taste.
