The Namibian Police in Rundu on Sunday seized 27 blocks of cannabis with a street value of N$128 000, Kavango East acting regional commander Eino Nambahu said.

Nambahu said the drugs were found at a house in Kehemu location in Rundu after some residents of the location tipped the police off.

One person has been arrested while another one is on the run. Nambahu, however, said the suspect is known to the police.

Inspector general of the Namibian Police Joseph Shikongo described the seizure as a “big success in the region”.

Shikongo encouraged the community of Rundu and other towns to report any suspicious drug dealings.

Head of police criminal investigations in Kavango East region Bonifatius Kanyetu said another two suspects were arrested two weeks ago at Omega after they were found in possession of cannabis worth N$15 000, while another suspect was recently arrested in the region with cannabis to the value of N$2 500.
