Yvonne Dausab reflects on her tenure PART 1

April 1, 2025

[PODCAST]

Yvonne Dausab, Namibia’s former Minister of Justice joined us in studio to reflect on her tenure as minister and where the road leads for her now.

She served from March 2020 until earlier this month under President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s cabinet reshuffle.

A distinguished legal practitioner with a BA in Law and LLB from the University of the Western Cape, and an LLM from the University of Pretoria, Dausab has been a trailblazer—admitted to the High Court of Namibia in 2000 at age 25 and later becoming a Notary Public in 2015. Before her ministerial role, she chaired the Law Reform and Development Commission and lectured at the University of Namibia, earning accolades like the 2022 Vera Chirwa Human Rights Award for her advocacy in disability rights, children’s rights, and constitutional law.

We reflected on her impactful tenure and got to know the woman behind the title in a lighter chat.
