World Competition day
December 2, 2024
Namibia will this week join the rest of the world in celebrating the World Competition day with the headline event being led by the Namibia Competition Commission.
The day is a campaign to ensure that consumers from across the world realise the potential benefits from an effectively implemented competition regime, and also play their role in making competition regimes work worldwide.
Experts have submitted that it is, therefore, critical that focus on competition policy and law issues at an international level be strengthened.
The commission has been quite active here in Namibia in reinforcing competitive behaviour across sectors.
Last week Choppies was made to pay N$2.2 million as a settlement fee after it entered into an illegal merger.
So, how successful has the commision been in regulating anti-competitive behaviour over the years?
We were joined by the commission’s spokesperson, Dina Gowases.
