February 5, 2025

[PODCAST]

Three individuals accused of stealing a family dog and selling it for N$200 to purchase street food (kapana) over the weekend were granted bail of N$3,000 each in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. However, it was noted that the accused may be unable to afford the bail and could remain in custody until 18 March pending further investigation.
Magistrate Conchita Olivier oversaw the case involving Seth Skrywer (20), Lourens Nanub (18), and Mariando Bloedstaan (20).
A 12-year-old minor, also implicated in the crime, was released into the custody of his mother. The group faces charges of theft, money laundering, and animal cruelty. Charne wasserfall spoke to us on behalf of the dog owner Catherine Bel.
