At a central committee meeting in Windhoek on Saturday, Swapo endorsed vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the unopposed party president, scheduled for confirmation at the extraordinary congress from 7–9 March 2025. Party spokesperson Hilma Nicanor stated that the decision came as part of a unified effort to uphold the party’s legacy following founding president Sam Nujoma’s state funeral. Political analysts, including Sacky Johannes, maintain that the endorsement, though undemocratic in form, is unlikely to split the party.
