Paulina Hamukwaya discusses challenges faced by women and girls in STEM fields

The underrepresentation of women in science effects everyone, not just women. Diversity benefits science and boosts the quality of research and innovation by bringing together a range of people with different experiences and viewpoints. In business, strong gender and ethnic diversity even leads to better profitability. According to the UN, “gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls is not just a goal in itself, but a key to sustainable development, economic growth, and peace and security”.
