Namibia is actively moving towards implementing electronic signatures, with the legal framework provided by the Electronic Transactions Act of 2019, which recognizes e-signatures as legally equivalent to handwritten signatures, allowing them to be used in official documents and transactions across the country; this aligns with international standards and practices for digital signatures. According to The Namibian, in December, the regulations for these signatures were gazetted and consultations will take place at the end of this month.
