Namibians have spent N$151 million on video downloads and streaming services, with Netflix being the most-used platform. Netflix is followed by Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. The popularity of these platforms can be attributed to their convenience, flexibility, and advert-free content. This information is based on the Bank of Namibia’s (BoN) discussion note titled ‘Unlocking Insights: Harnessing Card Data to Measure Namibia’s Cross-Border Digital Purchases,’ released last month. Ipanduleni Victor, the Head of Technology and Innovation at Ibiatv, had a conversation with Desert Radio’s Che Ulenga about Namibian streaming platforms and the industry.
