A proposed N$37 billion smart railway project in northern Namibia is making headlines — not for its promise of connectivity, but for the questions it’s raising.
A company called AfrailX Incorporated claims it’s gearing up to build an urban rail network connecting Oshakati, Ongwediva, Ondangwa, Eenhana and Oshikango. But here’s the catch — the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, or NIPDB, says their interaction with the company has been limited to email correspondence, and no official approval has been granted.
So what’s really going on behind the scenes? Is this a visionary leap forward — or another opaque project with more questions than answers?
