Phala phala robbery accussed remains in custody

Three siblings linked to the robbery of foreign currencies at South African president Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm appeared briefly in the Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The three suspects are Imanuwela David, Froliana Joseph and Ndilinasho Joseph.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the siblings, who are of Namibian origin, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal, housebreaking with intent to steal and theft and money laundering.

According to Malabi-Dzhangi, David will remain in custody, while the bail of the Josephs has been extended.

She said the case has been transferred to the Modimolle Regional Court for determination of a trial date, set for 20 August 2024.
