Ministry takes closer look at Ohangwena-Angola border

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security and stakeholders are currently assessing the borderline between the Ohangwena region and Angola.
The aim is to identify possible additional entry points.
This was prompted by the increase in movement between the two countries.
Chrispin Kamwi, the deputy director of immigration border control for the Oshana, Oshikoto and Ohangwena regions, on Tuesday said the Oshikango border post, which serves as the official point of entry into Angola, has become too distant for travellers.
“The Oshikango border post is about 300km from Okongo. This causes people to cross and trade illegally.
“We are currently engaging community members and traditional leaders. We started on 12 July at Oshikombe at Okongo, and will end on 19 July at Beacon 16,” Kamwi said.
