A forty-one-year-old man, Samuel Japhet, was found dead in his bed on board the Tunacor Fishing company’s Tutungeni vessel on Tuesday.
Erongo police spokesperson warrant officer Tuyenikelao Tashiya says an employee went to wake up Japhet for duties on the vessel that was docked at the Namibia Ports Authority’s Berth 4 at Walvis Bay at around 03h30.
He was, however, unresponsive.
A doctor from the vessel was called to examine him, but Japhet remained unresponsive.
He never complained of any sickness to the clinic or anyone on the vessel.
Japhet was declared dead by St.Gabriel paramedics, and his body was transported to the Walvis Bay police mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
His next of kin have been informed.
The vessel docked at Namport on 15 April for offloading purposes.
