The International University of Management (IUM) and the China University of Geosciences signed a cooperation agreement on Monday.
The agreement, signed at the IUM main campus in Windhoek, will benefit the two institutions in several areas of interest including water resources management, renewable energy, green hydrogen technology, logistics and transportation, as well as information and communication technologies, among others.
IUM founder and council chair professor David Namwandi said IUM will not only be offering Chinese language studies to its staff and students, but to whoever is interested in learning the language.
He said this is a great opportunity for those interested in exploring opportunities in China, be it for education, business initiatives or having some knowledge of Chinese to ease communication barriers between the two countries.
“We know that the China University of Geosciences is one of the top universities in China. We are happy to establish this partnership between [the university] and IUM because we see that it will open opportunities for staff and student exchanges, while also embracing some possibilities for joint academic programmes, as well as research, development and innovation in areas which will benefit Namibia in terms of human resources capacity building,” Namwandi said.
The two institutions were represented by China University of Geosciences president Youhong Sun and IUM vice chancellor Osmund Mwandemele.
