Inspiring pupils through the EduPower Namibia initiative

Written by on May 27, 2024

One of the youngest teachers from Ekulo Senior Secondary School, Ndinelago Kalikoka Emosho (27), has launched a project called EduPower Namibia that aims to ensure that every Namibian child, especially those in remote or disadvantaged communities, has access to quality education.

Emosho says the purpose of starting the project is to ensure that every child has access to equal and quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances.

“The aims include providing resources, support, motivation and opportunities for pupils to thrive academically and personally, ultimately empowering them to reach their full potential,” she says.

Emosho says she was inspired to come up with the project after a touching experience when she was donating pads to a school as a Megumbo Majestic Work brand ambassador.

“This has inspired me to go in the same direction, because I have witnessed the lack of resources for pupils and hearing teachers express their struggles deeply affected me.

“As a teacher myself, I understand the challenges of teaching pupils who lack resources and motivation. It broke my heart to see that some children never have the opportunity to be visited by someone who can motivate and inspire them,” says Emosho, adding that she decided to take matters into her own hands and start this initiative.

With EduPower Namibia, Emosho says pupils and the youth at large can benefit by receiving resources for their education, as well as guidance and motivation to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

“By engaging in conversations with them, we can empower them to excel in their school work,” says Emosho.
