Financial literacy workshop boosts 53 entrepreneurs

More than 53 young entrepreneurs recently attended a financial literacy workshop for the 2024/25 financial year in Windhoek.
The workshop, hosted by the Youth Opportunity Pillar under the One Economy Foundation, aimed to enhance young entrepreneurs’ understanding of financial literacy.
According to a statement issued by One Economy Foundation spokesperson Ileni Hitula on Thursday, the event featured speakers and sessions on maintaining good mental health amid challenges.
“At the end of the workshop, we awarded a total of seven micro-entrepreneurs from the Khomas region. The first-prize winner, Matheus Iilwenya, was awarded N$10 000, while Lavinia Titus received the second prize of N$8 500.
“The third and fourth runners-up, Ndapandula Teofilus, received business stock worth N$4 000, Heskiel Michael and Justina Shilongo received business stock worth N$2 500 each, and Nadia Iita received business registration.
“These funds are necessary capital, and for some will assist in expanding their businesses. Similarly, business registration and the FNB Speedee are crucial elements that would assist entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses,” Hitula says.
Speaking at the event, the statement says programme coordinator Miina Shakela said: “Although not everyone walked away with business funds, stock, or registration, we hope that you’ve all gained valuable insight and knowledge on financial literacy.”
