Namibia Industrial Development Agency workers strike for better pay

Namibia Industrial Development Agency (Nida) employees on Wednesday went on strike to demand a 30% salary increase.
Most employees are paid between N$1 500 and N$3 000 per month.
The Nida employees, who are members of the Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (Nafau), said they cannot survive on their current salaries.
Nafau general secretary Jacob Penda said the workers are demanding better working conditions, travel allowances and salary increments.
He further said workers should be able to survive on their salaries to maintain their livelihoods.
“The lowest earning workers of this company receive as little as N$3 000 [with which] to pay rent, buy food and support their families,” he said.
