Nujoma’s sister endured cruelty, humiliation – Mbumba

Written by on June 21, 2024

President Nangolo Mbumba says Frieda Daniel, the late sister of the founding president, endured cruelty and humiliation at the hands of apartheid forces for her involvement in the liberation struggle.

Mbumba said this in his speech read on his behalf by Nujoma’s son, Utoni, during Daniel’s memorial service held at Etunda village on Friday.

“The Nujoma family suffered immense harassment and brutality at the hands of apartheid forces due to their political activism and their relations to the revolutionary liberation struggle icon, founding president Sam Nujoma,” Mbumba said.

Mbumba said after independence, the late Daniel continued to serve her community and Namibia diligently, and she was a mother figure to many in her village.

The president said the late Daniel earned a reputation as a humble, kindhearted, highly spiritual person.

“Her warm disposition and benevolent nature endeared her to the community, as she raised many children and treated them as her own,” Mbumba added
