The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) of Namibia marked a significant milestone in the nation’s sustainability journey at the fourth edition of the Sustainable Development Awards.

The ceremony highlighted the achievements of individuals and organisations leading the charge towards a greener tomorrow, while emphasising the importance of continued collaboration.

Capricorn Group Sustainability head Ruan Bestibier says the awards represents a collective commitment towards building a resilient, sustainable and equitable Namibia.

“Each award winner exemplified dedication, innovation and positive social impact, emphasising the crucial role individuals, companies and organisations play in shaping a sustainable future,” Bestibier says.

The ceremony concluded by emphasising the shared responsibility of sustainable development and commitment to harmonising economic prosperity, social well-being, environmental health and sound governance.

Bestibier thanked the EIF and all sponsors for their support since the programme’s inception in 2015.

“As the ceremony celebrated excellence, it was presented as a call to action, inspiring continued efforts towards a future built on sustainable practices,” Bestibier says.

Executive director of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism Teofilus Nghitila acknowledged the initial hurdles in establishing the awards programme.

Nghitila expressed a sense of accomplishment in witnessing the program’s evolution and its role in acknowledging notable achi
evements in sustainability.
