Shikongo docket sent to PG’s office 10 days ago

Written by on June 14, 2024

The Namibian Police submitted a case file on the car accident involving inspector general Joseph Shikongo to the prosecutor general’s office 10 days ago.

This was confirmed by Asser Xaregeb, the chief legal clerk at the Office of the Prosecutor General (PG) at the Oshakati High Court, on Thursday.

Xaregeb said the police submitted the docket on 3 June, which was then sent to the PG’s office in Windhoek the next day.

“Whether the investigations are completed or not, is not in my domain, you are advised to liaise with the head of the internal investigation department of the police,” Xaregeb said.

Prosecutor general Martha Imalwa told The Namibian this week she was not aware if the docket had reached her office yet, as she has been busy.

Shikongo was involved in a head-on collision in December 2022 on the Ondangwa-Oshikango road, resulting in the deaths of Frans Ndengu, Stefanus Lukas and Sofia Ananias.

Following the incident, the Namibian Police launched an investigation into Shikongo for potential charges of culpable homicide, reckless driving and negligent driving.
