SA entrepreneur to address Windhoek forum
Written by on June 13, 2024
Business Summit Namibia will host its fourth summit in Windhoek on 6 July this year, featuring South African entrepreneur and founder of Bathu Shoes Theo Baloyi.
According to Business Summit founder Martin Nankela, the summit will be held in partnership with the ride-hailing app Yango and will bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and stakeholders.
“This annual event is dedicated to fostering collaboration and driving innovation to spur business growth and social development across Namibia,” said Nankela in a recent statement.
To be held under the theme: ‘Legitimising Business Ventures and Harmonising Digital Innovation’, the forum aims to facilitate networking and the exchange of information among key players in the business sector to address critical issues such as unemployment and promote comprehensive social development.
This year’s theme reflects the evolving landscape of modern business, Nankela noted.
“As we navigate an increasingly digital world, it is crucial for businesses to adopt legitimate, sustainable practices while embracing technological advancements. This theme underscores the importance of integrating digital innovation with sound business strategies to thrive in today’s competitive environment.”
Nankela said they strive to empower individuals by providing access to the tools, knowledge and networks necessary for their entrepreneurial efforts.
“This empowerment is essential for enabling participants to take control of their economic destinies and transform their ideas into successful ventures,” said Nankela.
He noted that their approach extends beyond economic growth to include social and environmental betterment.
“We are committed to recommending and supporting initiatives that promote sustainable development, ensuring long-term benefits for all stakeholders.”
Nankela said Baloyi’s inspiring journey from a start-up to a widely recognised brand in South Africa embodies the entrepreneurial spirit Namibians aim to cultivate.
Baloyi’s insights into business legitimacy and digital innovation will provide valuable lessons and inspiration to all who attend the forum, Nankela added.
In addition to Baloyi’s keynote speech, industry leaders from different organisations will share insights on projects and opportunities available for businesses.
In line with the commitment to empower the small and medium enterprise (SME) industry, the summit will feature a range of exhibition stalls which will offer SMEs a platform to showcase their products and services, connect with potential investors and learn from industry leaders.
“This initiative is designed to boost visibility and foster growth among SMEs, which are vital to Namibia’s economic development,” said Nankela.
The Business Summit Namibia 2024 offers an opportunity to engage industry leaders, gain insights from experts and explore new business opportunities, he added.
“Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, an established business leader or a policymaker, the summit provides a platform to network, learn and grow.” – email: matthew@namibian.com.na
