Iivula-Ithana threatens to sue over claims she founded IPC
Written by on June 12, 2024
Former Swapo secretary general Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana has tasked her lawyers to demand an apology from Paulus Hakalume for defaming her character.
This is after Hakalume, who uses the alias Ndjamba Yolupangi, allegedly spread false news claiming that Iivula-Ithana is a Swapo hibernator and one of the founders of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC).
Kadhila Amoomo Legal Practitioners issued a letter of demand to Hakalume on Monday stating that their client’s impeccable reputation has been maliciously attacked through untrue statements made by Hakalume.
These statements were widely circulated on various social media platforms.
The letter further states that Hakalume “distributed graphic and verbal information relating to their client’s political standing and reputation” which was knowingly false.
An apology through a voice message is demanded from Hakalume on or before 20 June this year.
The apology is to be distributed to all WhatsApp groups. He further needs to produce a letter of apology to Iivula-Ithana in which all the allegations against her are retracted. Should he fail to do so, Amoomo will approach the High Court and sue him for N$300 000. Contacted for comment yesterday, Hakalume said he does not want talk to the media.
