Mbumba participates in KAZA-TFCA heads of state summit

President Nangolo Mbumba will participate in a one-day heads of state summit for the Kavango-Zambezi Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (KAZA-TFCA), taking place in Livingstone, Zambia, on Friday.
Mbumba departed for the summit on Thursday and is expected to return on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the presidency on Thursday, Mbumba is attending the summit at the invitation of Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema.
The summit will be held under the theme ‘Leveraging KAZA’s natural capital as a catalyst for inclusive social-economic development of the region.
“The summit is aimed at reaffirming Namibia’s political commitment to regional cooperation and integration in the development of the KAZA-TFCA, while highlighting the importance of biodiversity and ecosystems as well as developing resilience to climate change for the benefit of the KAZA countries and their people,” the presidency said.
The summit provides an opportunity for Namibia to showcase best practice in the areas of biodiversity and nature conservation, including wildlife and conservancies management.
The Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (TFCA) was established following the signing of the KAZA treaty on 18 August 2011.
KAZA comprises of five member countries, namely Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
