Hauwanga resigns from NCCI leadership

Businessman Benjamin Hauwanga on Tuesday announced his resignation from the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (NCCI) board, and the position of Ongwediva branch chairperson.
He told The Namibian he does not believe the NCCI is helping the business community, as its board does not comprise business people.
“The board of the chamber is controlled by the heads of parastatals, CEOs and MDs, instead of by business people, as it should be,” Hauwanga said.
“It’s disappointing to realise that the chamber is not catering to its members, the business community, thus they are not really there to help the business community.”
Hauwanga will, however, remain an ordinary paid member of the NCCI, he added.
