Katima Mulilo Municipality CEO Raephail Liswaniso speaks on the sewage overflowing in the town
April 16, 2025
For far too long, overflowing sewage has plagued this town. It’s not just an eyesore – it’s a health hazard. Families are forced to live with waste bubbling up through their toilets, showers, and yards. One resident, Alphonsina Libetwa, says her shower fills up with sewage waste whenever the pump station blocks. Imagine that – trying to live with dignity while sewage creeps back into your home.
The Katima Mulilo Town Council has acknowledged the problem, citing an ageing sewage system and insufficient budgets. But the people are asking – when will it end?
Chief executive officer of the Katima Mulilo Municipality Raephail Liswaniso joined us on air to speak on what’s being done to redress this dire situation and what residents can expect going forward.
