Government’s promise to build 5,000 houses in the Khomas Region within the next 12 months in a country where housing demand has long outpaced delivery, could  this be the start of real change?

Let’s put this in perspective. The Mass Housing Programme only managed 4,380 homes over a full decade. And the National Housing Enterprise has delivered just over 18,000 homes in more than 30 years. So what’s changed now? Can we really build 5,000 homes in just one year?

To dissect this, we were joined by McHenry Venaani MP and President of the Popular Democratic Movement to help us assess just how realistic this target is—and what needs to happen for it to succeed.
