We were joined by Pijoo Nganate, Governor of Omaheke Region, a dryland hit hard by last year’s punishing drought. In 2024, Omaheke lost crops, livestock, and saw 10% of its people in emergency hunger, part of 1.4 million Namibians struggling to eat. Now, good rains since February—boosting Hardap Dam to 64%—promise relief. Nganate, who’s rallied UN aid and local resilience, joins us to unpack what this means for Omaheke.
