Bernard Kavau shares his thoughts on NYC debacle

Sport, Youth and National Service minister Agnes Tjongarero said she is in dark about a new board that has been elected at the National Youth Commission’s (NYC) 3rd General Assembly held over the weekend. A total of 51 affiliates of the youth council gathered at Rietfontein and elected Simon Taapopi (chairperson), Ester Simon, Luciano Kambala, Veparura Kandirikira, Yolande Sabatta and Melinda Mogotsi. But this was in the backdrop of Tjongarero over the weekend firing the entire National Youth Council (NYC) board over misconduct, allegations of dishonesty and the mismanagement of funds.

In the meantime, the minister has appointed an interim board to oversee the convening of a new General Assembly and will serve as its electoral committee. It is made up of Curtis Andrew, Beverly Silas, Hendrik Theofius, Victoria Itta, and Ngoshi Panduleni.
