A group of 95 trainees graduated this week after completing a three-month basic orientation training course at Lucius Sumbwanyambe Mahoto Correctional Service Training College at Omaruru.

This was announced by the Namibia Correctional Services (NCS) on Facebook.

According to the NCS, the graduates represent diverse educational backgrounds in psychology, social work, nursing, theology, education, agriculture, hospitality, sports, administration and security.

NCS offers two mandatory training courses for new correctional officers, which are the nine-month basic correctional training course and a three-month basic orientation training course.

“Both courses are meticulously crafted to equip correctional officers with the necessary skills and knowledge through theoretical and practical training and assessments. This prepares them comprehensively for their roles in correctional facilities, ensuring a commitment to excellence and professionalism within the NCS,” the post reads.
